The Power of Plus One (+1)

Have you heard of the power of one?

In business terms it means doing one thing everyday that will build your business. Often you realise that you have 10 must do activities. Then you feel overwhelmed and do nothing at all. If this is your situation just do one thing on the list every day. After 10 days your list will be complete!

But I will let you into a secret here. If you do one thing on your list often you will be motivated to do more. The secret is to act.

Action takers are winners.

Perseverance and the Lag factor

When you are new to web business it is often a while before you see results. This is caused by the lag factor. I notice this when I change the program I am leading my promotions with.

I often advertise for 2 weeks or so before the sign ups come. At the moment I am promoting Force Hits and I got my first referral after advertising the link for over 2 weeks.

I know this pattern now as I have seen it hundreds of times in the past. So what causes this lag factor?

The main thing is exposure. The first thing is awareness, people become aware that your homepage has changed. They may see your page 30 times before it really registers. This is where perseverance comes in. I know that I need about 10,000 views of my advertisement to gain one upgraded member.
I track my hits via Trck.me (see under Top Tools link) so I know where my traffic comes from.

Don't give up, give an ad time to get awareness and exposure. Some people change ads every few days if they don't get results - this is a mistake.

Good luck

Check out my website today at http://drkelp.co.uk - Force Hits (homepage) and NerdBux (PTC tab) are my top 2 sites at the moment.

Oak Trees take time to Grow

My daughter like many other people aspires to be a multi millionaire and the CEO of her own company. A great aspiration but when pressed to outline the actions being taken to get there I get no robust response. As they say a Goal is a dream with a deadline. Without a plan, the dream remains a dream.

The Internet is full of offers to make millions without effort and so many people pay money without doing due diligence.

Here are some hints on success

1. There is no free lunch

2. If it seems to be good to be true, stay away

3. The harder you work the more success you have

4. Success requires focus

5. Many people who look successful are not - the rich looking are often riddles with debt (Check out The Millionaire Mind - an excellent book).

Make a plan and stick to it. Focus on your business strengths.

Just remember might oaks from tiny acorns grow - it just takes time.

Good Luck with nurturing your business Oak.

I Love Failing

One of the joys of being in business is related to the opportunity to continually learn. Like most people I have received the most benefit from learning what doesn't work and trying something else.

Thomas Watson Snr, the founder of IBM, was once asked by a young man, "How can I double my success rate?". Watson's reply seems counter-intuitive but is so correct based on my experience.

So what was the answer? Well, Watson replied with the words, "Quadruple your failure rate".

So to succeed you need to fail. Most successful entrepreneurs fail a number of times before they win big. Their failures and tenacity allow them to carry on and succeed.

The take away message is to succeed you must learn from your failures and not be dejected by them. This gives you the resilience to succeed.

Collaboration Works

Today in the 2010's we need to collaborate more than ever. Competition at all costs is a 20th century paradigm which is over it's best by date. Successful businesses partner and collaborate with other businesses who complement their own offerings.

Don't fight over dividing the pizza (competition) but rather bake more pizzas (collaboration).

Failure Breeds Success

"Each failure to sell will increase your chances for success at your next attempt."

Og Mandino

This is an important lesson for all business owners and shows the importance of attitude. Sales is a numbers game and those brave souls who do well with cold calling know that about 2 in 100 calls will give significant income opportunities. Don't focus on the failures look at the successes.

Going the Extra Mile

Do more than is required. What is the distance between someone who achieves their goals consistently and those who spend their lives and careers merely following? The extra mile.
Gary Ryan Blair

It is the extra mile that makes the difference, push yourself further than your competitors and you will win. Perseverance and stamina are two underrated attributes of people who have been successful in business.

Best Business Advice

When I got my first management post I was given some excellent advice by one of my colleagues:

Firstly - Never do over the phone or by email what you can do face to face;

Secondly - Keep close to your money man (our accountant was a male at that stage - and still is a male last time I saw him!!).

This sage advice has stayed with me for decades and I have passed it onto many people. Even though I work in a highly technical field, my success has been accentuated by the strong face to face relationships I have been fortunate to make with colleagues and clients over the years.

Keep well

Be a Self-Starter

When you see a problem or a need what do you do? Many people say, "It's not my problem, its X's problem".

Successful people say, "Here is a problem, excellent, now I can find a solution.

Every problem is a solution building opportunity. As they say, "when the going gets tough, the tough get going!!".

Use problems as a growth goad. The best business people have become successful by having a toolbox of solutions that they can apply to problems. There are very few new problems, just different and more innovative solutions. If people could see this, they would say, that problem is mine!!

The Secrets of Management

If you want to be a successful manager, you have to like, and be able to motivate people. It is a truth that a team can do more than any one gifted individual. Picking the right team is the secret.

One thing I have learned from years in business is that recruitment is a key component of business success. Look for personalities that will work on your team. You can teach skills, but you can't change someones personality. Nothing destroys team morale more than having a primadonna or a non team player come into the team.

Choose your staff wisely, nurture them, play to their respective strengths within a high performing team and you will achieve success.

Business is about Relationships

The success of your business ventures depends on having health relationships. These relationships may be with suppliers, customers, staff, co-workers, management...the list goes on. If you can't get the person skills right it is unlikely that you will make much headway. Business life is full of hidden traps to those who only chase the mighty dollar and take the "Greed is Good" path.

Treat others as you like to be treated. Be kind, friendly and treat everyone as your equals. This kind of approach pays huge dividends. As our latest economic crisis shows, just focusing on growth and financial wizardry does not work. We need sustanable businesses that meet real not engineered needs.

Keep well.

Rise to the Challenge

Over many years of working in various oragnisations and businesses I have learned to rise to the challenges presented. This helps your personal and company growth. There is always a solution to any business (or life) problem if you are willing to press the envelope of ordinary thought.

Working outside of your comfort zone, invariably helps you to pick up new skills.

Keep well.

Persistence is the Key

Do you want to succeed in business?

Do you REALLY want to succeed in business?

If the answer is yes then you need to be a persistent person. More persistent than your clients and competitors. Business never slows down, it is always fluid and changing, so you need to have great powers of focus and persistence.

Make a plan and stick to it. In a world of instant everything, the temptation is to chase after every get rich scheme you see on the net. In all business you need to do due diligence around opportunities, there are no short cuts! When you decide to go with a course of action stick to it and don't get distracted.

I have been on the net for years and over time I have built up large downlines, but it takes a lot of time, and sheer hard work. But the work is worth it. You make friends, build your business and make money. Don't expect to make thousands a week when you start, just get the basics established and set realistic goals. Once you get established the cash flow will grow.

Go to my site to see which programs have worked for me.

Stick with it and success will come

Mix with Successful People

If you want to succeed with your online business it is imperative that you mix with other successful marketers. Success breeds success and some of it will rub off on you.

In any profession or trade it takes time to learn the ropes. The one thing I can tell you is that there is no easy scheme to get rich on the Internet. It takes time, effort and perseverance.

Although I have been on the Net for some time I recently found a forum that has really helped me. It is called the ConquerYourNiche or CYN forum. You are not allowed to advertise blatantly on the site. Its about Internet marketers helping each other out.

You can join the forum by Clicking Here
