Qondio - Content plus networking

I have been using Qondio since its inception. It is a site that allows you to post content. You don't make money but every intell you post gets you an enduring back link. Over time this works. Social networking and content management are both soft approaches to sales. You can build networks with like minded individuals and learn stuff at the same time.

Amazon Buyers be Aware of this Scam

It hurts!! I have been scammed and lost £346 through a scammer operating through the Amazon.co.uk site.

If you see this guy selling anything don't buy it!!

The moment money transfer is mentioned, leave well alone.

The email addresses that I have corresponded though are:

Alexander Groom (oscar-dehn@hotmail.com)
orchard.order@googlemail.com

Hopefully other people will google their email addresses and come up with this.

Why would any trustworty retailer have hotmail & gmail addresses? They are coming across as legit UK based companies with corresponding company websites.

Again - leave well well alone - pure scammers.

What really annoys me is that Amazon was warned about this scammer in early december according to a forum on their site and still he appears. I got scammed but they should have closed this guy out in early December.

So if it can happen to an old hand like me it can happen to anyone.

Thanks

Brand yourself

Sound's painful doesn't it! But I am talking here of using the best brand you have, which is a photo of your face. When advertising online you need to make your pages stand out. It has been demonstrated that the first thing the eye is drawn to on a web page is a photo of a face. Many websites have great graphics and content but nothing that distinguishes it from the other million pages out there advertising the same thing into the same market.

Did you know that your face is unique? It does not need to be pretty or handsome (for proof of that look at my photo on this blog!)just yours.

So if you want to get a better response to your webpages include a photo of yourself and play on your unique brand, your face.

Get to Know People before You Sell

One mistake that people often make in business is working their contacts for sales to early. The secret is to get to know your customers/contacts and give them an opportunity to know you. Trust will come as people get to know you and then when you make an offer people are much more likely to respond.

Using social networking sites such as IMFaceplate
will allow you to meet people who may become customers once they know you.
So be patient, the rewards will come.

Ciao

Networking

The key to successful business practice is networking. That is where tools such as blogs, Yuwie and Twitter come in. Over the years I have cultivated a large list of people who I have done business with and built up their trust. This is a two way street with benefits for both parties. I get to share my ideas and tips and they in turn get the chance to share their ideas and experiences. I have several people whose advice I trust implicitly and when they tell me something I listen. Over years I have found that their advice is sound. One is a young guy called Tim Linden and the other is a grizzled warrior like myself called Tony Tezak.

Go to my web site if you want to join their programs. Tims venture is called StartXchange and Tony's is Tezaks Traffic Power - just click on the respective links

Make Money with Twitter

After seeing Twitter advertised everywhere I decided to join up as the concept of mini-blogging appealed to me. It is certainly a very popular and interesting way to communicate with friends and colleagues.

Then I came across a program called Twivert which allows you to make cash via Twitter and leverage on the incredible Twitter user base and activity levels.

You can join as a member by CLICKING HERE

If you want to advertise your business then join as an advertiser, the rates are very competitive.

Enjoy.

Be Prepared

In business the unexpected should be expected. The best time to look at business continuity plans is before you need to invoke them.

The main advantages are not due to the plan itself, but in the valuable discussion and brainstorming that takes place when a Business Continuity Plan is prepared.

In real emergencies people do not follow their plans slavishly but the backbone and the pre-thought around the plan are what kicks in as an effective response.

Growing as a Manager

In the last few weeks I have mentored two of my new managers through the angst of their first, respective human resource, performance related problems with staff. Every manager always remembers the first disciplinary session they had to run, the first review of a poor performer or the first time they had to let someone go. This is a watershed time for new managers/supervisors and both of them came through with flying colors and felt much better about themselves as managers afterwards. The secret is to be professional, firm and objective.

Best Business Advice

When I got my first management post I was given some excellent advice by one of my colleagues:

Firstly - Never do over the phone or by email what you can do face to face;

Secondly - Keep close to your money man (our accountant was a male at that stage - and still is a male last time I saw him!!).

This sage advice has stayed with me for decades and I have passed it onto many people. Even though I work in a highly technical field, my success has been accentuated by the strong face to face relationships I have been fortunate to make with colleagues and clients over the years.

Keep well
